Competition Format

The KSA Events Wrestling Tournaments will include dozens of teams in total, but all teams are divided into competitive groupings, so whether you are on the high end of the competitive level or rebuilding, you will be seeded into a bracket that is both challenging and competitive to your wrestlers.

Competition itself is in a dual meet format, with the entire team progressing as a unit. Round one consists of a round-robin pool format. Based on the results from each pool, teams are seeded into a traditional bracket for round two, which will determine overall team placements.

No matter where you finish, teams are guaranteed a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 8 dual meets over the course of the tournament, providing plenty of mat time and allowing all participating teams to plan their remaining schedule appropriately.

Junior Varsity

As in all KSA Events, Junior Varsity competition is typically available to all teams interested. This allows your entire program to experience the team bonding aspects of KSA Event participation without concern that your younger wrestlers will miss out on match experience. JV match quantities vary with participating team interest.

Sanctioning

The KSA Classic Wrestling Tournament is officially sanctioned by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). Therefore, all participating teams must be members in good standing of their State High School Athletic Association.

KSA holds a separate tournament, if necessary, for any private, parochial or other schools not members of a NFHS member association. This allows all schools, no matter their affiliation, to meet appropriate sanctioning requirements.
